| 7/11/2001 - Take That Hill |

A bright and sunny early morning and an hour long drive to our location in the foothills of the Cascade Range.
On the way we stopped for a country breakfast at Kev's Diner where we had a sumptuous repast, a couple rounds of blackjack, and we played a dirty trick on 'ol Torpedo. He was 10-1 (in the can) at the end of the meal and everyone was ready to go. We were all waiting outside in the vehicles when someone, I can't remember who, decided that we should drive around to the far side of a nearby building and hide. It worked like a charm. With that many people roaming around, it's easy to miss one, and Torpedo came striding out of the diner, a look of utter betrayal and dejection on his face. The people in the diner told him we had left, and that he could call us if he wanted. Ever stalwart, he walked out to the highway muttering to himself, reassuring words that we'd be back, we wouldn't forget him, we'd be right back...
Which of course we all watched from behind and got a good laugh over.
The fun ended there.
The lot of us sorry bastards had to hump all our gear three-quarters of a mile uphill along a trail to a waterfall. Beautiful location. A place we've been wanting to use in a film for nearly a decade. Well worth the hike, but we certainly didn't feel that way during the hike. Once shooting began, everyone quickly changed their tune. I know I may be sounding redundant, but we got some stellar footage again today. Some great shots and a powerhouse performance by our hero Barfly, despite being soaking wet, cold and miserable all day. He's doing a hell of a job. We got what we wanted, humped our gear back down the hill, took a rejuvenating dip in the river, and made tracks.
Those of us unlucky enough to be riding home in the RV were subjected to and party to an ear-shattering sing-along to a truly great compilation album; Bad Boy Ballads. An uproarious compendium of rotten 80's hair rock lament and longing. Shredded vocal cords smoothed out by a quick stop for milkshakes, we got home with smiles on our faces, knowing that tomorrow is our first down day. Thank the maker.
Photo Addendum - Obviously, I've finally gotten the photos up and working. The whole thing doesn't seem to jive on Netscape all that well, so check the pages out with Explorer if you can. As for this pic - Location, Location, Location...
