7/09/2001 - Torpedo Makes His Move
Sunday.
Today's excitement consisted primarily of the construction of the Torpedo-cam. Loosely based on the concept of the Evil Dead Raimi-cam which was adapted into the Muskrat-cam, and upon final completion had evolved into the Torpedo-cam. Got that? The idea is to take a wooden board, mount the camera on it, and create a vaguely steadi-cam-like maneuverable thingamajig. Essentially, we needed some tracking shots, didn't have a dolly yet (it's coming next week), and the steadi-cam we had access to is rated for about half the weight of our camera. The Torpedo-cam surpassed our expectations. Sure, we couldn't sprint through the trees and over the terrain like gazelles, but we got our tracking shots and got 'em without making any compromises.
A pretty small day overall. Just a scene with our two main characters interacting. Great performances by our boys, but don't let them know I said so. Start praising these damn actors too much and they prance around like they've found the Golden Fleece.
Photo Addendum - Mayhem in the RV around lunchtime. Yes, Glim is covered with dry mud.
