Well, what can I say...
Today went great.
We got a late start on the day (intentionally, mind you) since we didn't have a heck of a lot scheduled to shoot. Of course, our crew - God love them - dallied a bit as well, so our late start was a shade later than it probably should have been... We didn't get off our first shot until, uhm, 1:30 I'd say. No problem. It was a laid back day, like I said.
It's tough trying to get a wide, panoramic forest shot with some nice atmospheric mist flowing through along with a difficult jib move on a jib that is sorely lacking in counterweights. With no small amount of cursing and guerrilla ingenuity, we got the shot, and the rest of the day was cake. We even got a short un-scheduled scene in the can that we weren't sure if we'd get to. Granted, the aforementioned short scene was not scheduled for any day, so we knew it'd creep up and bite our ass sooner or later. It's a good thing it bit on the first day, when we had the time.
On schedule after day one, and a 7:30 call tomorrow. I'm still working out the picture issues, so with luck they'll be up soon. Check back through the past updates in a few days, because I oughta have some pics up on them once I get these wrinkles ironed out.
Photo Addendum - Spitfire and Scarlet watch on as Torpedo creates beautiful atmosphere with the smoke cannon, then lays waste to the forest with its dripping napalm residue. We fixed that later...
