Long time no news. Well, we’re still working away up here. We’ve got good news all around.
First off, WESTENDER just received quite an honor. An international jury awarded us the Special Prize for Best Fiction Film at the Brussels Cinema Festival in Belgium. It’s kind of a quirky festival in that there was no public screening, so no, nobody from the WESTENDER crew cruised over to Belgium. You can take a look at the winner’s page at: http://www.mamut.com/homepages/Belgium/2/9/festival/subdet2.htm
We’re going to be back on the big screen again soon. Our dates are locked at the Hollywood Theatre in NE Portland for Friday, March 5th to Thursday, March 11th. Feel free to show your enthusiasm by coming in costume. But as much as we love the look of real metal armor, please try to keep the decibel of it to a minimum.
The show times are not set yet. I will up-date the site when we have the final word. As the time gets closer, you can also confirm the details at http://www.hollywoodtheatre.orgor call their hotline at (503) 281-4215.
Director Brock Morse and Composer/Actor Rob Simonsen will be doing two more of their infamous Q&A sessions after the two Friday night shows at 7pm and 9:30pm. If you care to join the M.O.B crew, we’ll be heading out on the town for a little fun after the last Q&A. Don’t worry, details will probably follow later.
We’re proud to announce that we’ll also have two shows during that week for people with special needs. Sunday, March 7th at 2:30pm and Wednesday, March 10th at 7pm the blind and the hearing impaired will be able to enjoy WESTENDER at The Hollywood Theatre as well. The Oregon Commission for the Blind and the Committee for Audio Description in the Arts are working with us to provide headsets and audio description for the blind. The deaf and hard of hearing will be aided by captions.
Not able to make it to Portland? Well, we had such a great response at the Avalon Cinema in Corvallis in November that we’re planning on bringing WESTENDER back in the next few months. No news yet, but I’ll let ya’ know when everything is locked down.
If you live out of the Corvallis/Portland area, we’re looking for good independent cinema houses to screen WESTENDER at. Just give a shout if you have any suggestions, especially if you have inside contacts. The independent cinema world can be a tough place. And don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten you guys down the Eugene way, we’re already on that one.
Thank you for all of your support. Hope to see you at the show.
